Trio 2015

This week I have conducted progress on my passion project by furthering my research for my media component of a mini documentary. I have watched many varieties of mini documentary videos to gain more knowledge on how to create concise and valuable information into a short video. Aspects like voice overs, subtitles, video clips and pictures helped them relay information appropriately and effectively to the audience watching. On average I found that videos were around 8-20 minutes long depending on the details included in the video. For my video I decided to focus around the more concise videos from 8-12 minutes long so I am able to show it in my presentation because I believe that this component is significant to showing my development throughout my years as a dancer and how I have become so passionately about it today.

Throughout this process of research I have experienced many successes and challenges when thinking about how I am going to create my own mini documentary. Seeing how they mixed pictures and videos together, I found the opportunity to gather all my old pictures and competition videos. This will help create clips of highlights to my dances through the years. This will be able to grasp my level of experience throughout different timelines of my dancing and age groupings. To do this I went through all of my old dances from age groups and genres by re-reading my old competition programs. I made a chart below to organize my different dances. I believe that this will make it easier to find pictures and video clippings depending on how many dances I performed in that age group and the expectations of progress in that age group when finding clips for my mini documentary.

My next steps during the timeline of this next week is to use this chart as an anchor to finding all my pictures and videos from these dances. My goal is to find 5 pictures or videos from each age gap to represent my growth and improvements. My plan for this is to find all my videos and dedicate 5 minutes a night this week to watch each dance. By doing this I will be able to identify which parts of dances are significant and that I will want to use in my video. I will also collect pictures that I can use as a timeline scrapbook of these dances throughout the years. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

In addition to this, I also found multiple links of example videos that I can use as a guide and a specific video on how to create a documentary of my own below.
